Stephen Fields speaks to St. Louis Association of Healthcare Risk Managers
Stephen Fields presented to the St. Louis Association of Healthcare Risk Managers an overview of the increasing number of patients with mental illness presenting to the ER. The presentation addressed the American College of Emergency Physicians Policy Statement on critical issues that arise with these patients, the Psychiatric Evaluation as recommended by the American Psychiatric Association, outlining the legal steps to have someone involuntarily detained and lawsuits/claims that specifically arise with these patients which include malpractice, false imprisonment, and breach of confidentiality.
